All Good Things Must End...
Greetings loyal Tweetree users. It's with great sadness that we're announcing the closing of Tweetree after more than three years of operation.
We created Tweetree with the goal of making the Twitter experience better. We created a number of innovative features, some of which have since found their way into the main Twitter web client itself (such as inline content for popularly shared items, like YouTube videos). Tweetree had become enormously popular and we continued to improve the Twitter experience for hundreds of millions of users.
Over the last year, it's become quite difficult to be a Twitter developer. Twitter has made it clear they are not interested in clients that provide a similar (if improved) experience over their own services. Tweetree, while providing a different way to interact with Twitter, has been effectively frozen out of the ecosystem.
So, after more than three years, we're forced to shut down Tweetree.
From all of us at Draconis Software: thank you for all the great feedback, the friendships we've developed, and we look forward to the future.
PS: We have some fun new things cooking, so be sure to follow us for updates.
